Default Upgrading Axles for under a grand help?

I have a 2010 Wrangler 2 door X

I dont even have LSD

I wheel the beach and some mionor trails and mud.

My buddy is doing all the labor for free so my grand is only including parts, if i can keep it under 800 even better, but you get what you pay for.

What is the best and cheapest way to upgrade my lockers and gears?

Im thinking gear and pinions from Quadratec which are Superior 4.88's and $330 shipped.

For Lockers all i can think of is an Aussie up front, but not sure how to approach my rear?

I dont want something wearing out and having to replace it in a year, i want to make a decent investment.

Any help?

You probably should add cost of install kit or overhaul kit for each axle. I think Northridge has the best deal on gears/overhaul kits. $550 for front/rear gears and install kits...

With that in mind, there is not much $$$ left over to get crazy on lockers. I guess something like an aussie is only $300-400, but then you will be out of scratch.

I guess you could do the aussie front and find a used stock LSD for the rear; someone offered you one for $100 shipped or something I think I saw?

If you want to do the best you can do for your gears/lockers, you will probbaly need a little more than $1k. Best option is selectable lockers (esp. for rear) and they are not cheap...

Not really sure what crush sleeves you're referring to, but, if you're really going to spend $600 for a rear locker, just spend the extra and get the ARB. Detroit makes good lockers too but they're loud on road and they tend to pop and make noise.

On a side note, you sound like you are in a similar situation I was in. I had my 4" lift with 35s on my 2007 X, no LSD. I added: an LSD take-off from another member for free, 5.13s, EVO C2 gussets and LCA skids. I also plan to add in an Aussie.

How much did I spend?
LSD from another member: FREE
Yukon 5.13s including master install kits with bearings: $400
EVO C2 gussets and LCA skids: $120
Aussie (that I plan to add): $250

TOTAL: $770

But just so you know, I wheeled the piss out of my Jeep with open diffs and it did really well. Lockers and gears and all the jazz that some of these guys add isn't truly necessary if you wheel smart. If you plan to rock crawl, yeah, you'll need lockers. If you want a good trail rig you build a very capable rig with open diffs, just need a little more of the skinny pedal or spend more time hooked up to a recovery strap or a winch. It's really not a big deal.
