Control Arm Bushings-DW
I've been having an issue with death wobble for the past couple months. I've done a track bar as well as checked ball joints and other contributing causes. I've been lead to believe that when my lift was installed by a friend of mine, he didn't loosen the control arm bolts and re tighten on the ground after lowering the Jeep back on the ground. My first question is what's the best way to check the bushings. My nest is are the stock control arm bushings replaceable?
The OE bushings are a bonded rubber type. The rubber is bonded to the arm itself and the steel sleeve that the bolt goes through, so they are not replaceable.
What you are looking for when you check them is to see if the rubber has deteriorated or if the bond has separated anywhere.
I personally haven't seen an oe JK arm that had trashed bushings but I would anticipate that it wouldn't be hard to tell. Maybe others that have will chime in.
Hope that helps

If you unload the control arms you can tell if the bushing can be made to twist excessively.
I would remove the control arms to inspect them and torque them properly upon installation. IMO, eliminating DW is worth the effort.

So this may be a dumb question, but to remove and inspect the CA's, its probably best to just remove then reinstall one at a time? Back when I installed my lift I failed to loosen then retorque them at ride hide, recently I loosened them rocked jeep back and fourth then retorqued, but wanna make sure they aren't trashed because I still got a shimmy when I hit certain bumps/holes, I can't find any play in them, but I'm gonna replace the balljoints soon too.

Red,
Hopefully your issue is easy to fix. be careful that you don't wreck whatever it is you're taking off since you won't have replacement parts before Saturday. Just keep Tex nearby with his "how to" mind in case something goes wrong!
I'm going to try the loosening/rocking/re-torquing on mine before the trail run on saturday. As you know, I don't have DW but would like to avoid it. Even if this wasn't the root of your problem (I'm thinking Carnage Hill was!), it's an easy thing to do as a preventative measure!
STOP EATING TURTLES!!!!
