Default Homemade snorkel

Wondering if anyone has details on the snorkel system used on the Paris to New York expedition rigs? They look like they could be just flexible plastic pipe with a manufactured breather on top?? I am looking to do something similiar, hoping someone could provide more details. (I don't want hard pvc)
thanks in advance

this is the idea
1. AEV air ram
2. connect air ram to 3"-4" industrial ducting hose/shopvac hose (hose will come up the side of the hood and be clamped to Body Armor rack base, with air ram attached at the top).
3. Drill 3"or 4" hole in the hood, same location as AEV snorkel (hood will open without obstruction)
4. somehow connect to existing air box, or bypass using different type of filter?? this will be most difficult part
5. seal everything with rtv silicone

any suggestions or info on whether or not this has already been done is welcomed

Also if someone has the diameter of the AEV air ram (3"??) that would be greatly appreciated.

one would think a bit more than a snorkel would be needed to drive from Paris to New York!
