Default Tire change from Mud to Highway

Hey guys and gals. I've been trying to post my 5 Interco TrXuS 33/12.50/R18LT tires for sale on the forum but apparently i lack the proper post count to do so. In any event, I do have a question. I've been looking to go to a more highway type tire instead of mud terrain tires. I never go off roading and need something that will be more of a commuter tire instead. My rig is a daily driver for sure. Anyway, does anyone know about Nitto tires and how good they are? I was told my best options (from a local tire dealer) are the Nitto dune grappler and the dura grappler...well anything from the grappler series. I wanted to know if any of you have had any of these and how much do you like / dislike them? I need 18's for my Sahara too. Thanks!

The only thing I dislike about Nitto's are they wear out quick. Even if you rotate them every 3k miles.

I guess i should mention also any other recommendations for my new tires are welcome. I'm really trying to find the quietest tire for the money.

check out BFG AT. Had them on my old H2. That's what came on it stock. Bought it new and traded it in with 88k. With the same tires. Only had to rotate them. They suck in the mud but great on rocks and the road.

I personally have never owened nitto. There are 2 guys at my work that run them. And they hate them. Both are on newer model ford trucks. Both have only had them for a year and there already bald. That just tells me no way would I ever buy them...

BFG's last forever!! THey seem almost industrctable. I just got this latest JK last June, the owner had pizza cutting 31" tires on it. They are BFG's and I'm DYING for them to go bald so I can get new tires. They just don't seem to wear out.....21,000 miles later and they look dam new. I beat the piss outta them in southern Cali desert....wash the Jeep when I get home and the tires look untouched.

I ran BFG A/T KO's on my old Jeep and they never wore out! They are very good on the road and very good offroad, great all around tire. I now have the Toyo open country A/T and they seem very good as well but I have only been running them for about 4,000 miles. Thanks for the trade offer BTW, but I am keeping the Toyo's for DD and getting some used BFG's for trail.

I also agree with the comments on the BFG A/T's...They're a great tire and I ran them on my 1966 Bronco as well as my Tacoma. I decided to try out the Pro Comp Xtreme A/T's, which are supposed to be a 40,000 mile tire whereas the BFG's are rated at 50k I believe. So far (about 18k miles) the Pro Comps are doing good, but the down side of them is that they're directional. However, I really like how aggressive they are for an A/T tire.

With all that being said, I would definitely recommend the Pro Comp XAT...but, when they wear out, I'm going with the BFG AT ko for the longer tread life, slightly cheaper (at least in the 17" rim size) and not directional which should help with more even tread wear.

There's my $.02

i tried to find BFG's on their website but there was no size compatible to the rims I have. I'm not sure if i am just a dummy and can't convert sizes, but i don't think i can find them to fit. I may HAVE to look at another brand...

Personally I dislike the the BFG ATs, I bought them for my Dakota based on the tire shops recomendation and they were on my YJ when I bought it, I will not run them again. They do last forever and are fine and give a nice ride on dry surfaces but they hydroplane way to easy in heavy rain and the treads clog and do not clean out well in snow and mud.

I am running Cooper Discoverer S/Ts on the JK and I am much happier with both the on and off road performance. The Coopers are also holding up well I have about 35K miles on them and they still have 13/32" of the origional 20/32" tread depth left.

Another good tire from Cooper if you are not planning on doing any serious off roading is the Discoverer ATR, quiet and excelent on road performance. My dad has run these on his last couple trucks
