Default Lift & Tires

Hope this has not be answered before. If it was I was not able to find it. I have a Jeep 2009 Rubicon 4 door and I have a rubicon express 3.5 long arm on it. I keep blowing out the tires I have 35x12.5x17. I am changing to Pit Bull Rocker 37x13.5x17 my question is does anyone know if this setup is ok to swing these tires. I have talked to Rubicon express and they told me I needed to spend another $1000.00 to change to the 4.5 lift. I am just wondering for another inch of lift do I really need it? The tire guy says that the tires will fit with only a small amount of rubbing in an extreme turn. I do very extreme rock climbing and I rip the sidewall out of a tire every week. Help

changing to a larger tire size is not gonna increase the durability of the sidewall. But if your hear is set on those larger tires and you wheel it as hard as you say you do you ought to spend the extra cash to up grade to the larger lift. Or you could just through in some coil spring spacers and that will give you some extra clearance.

Flat fenders or a 1" body lift should do the trick.

i don;t know much about the lift, but i'd just suggest some spaces for your wheels. that should help with the rubbing issue while turning. maybe not enough, but its a thought. then perhaps a 1" body lift? or even some xenons or bushwacker flats to add some style. those all would be cheaper than a grand for more lift. but as i said, i'm no expert. i'm sure more people will ring in.

Default Lift and Tires

Check out my album to see my kind of riding. I take turns driving with my partner. The tires I have now are radials they have a crappy side wall. The pit bulls are bias and they have an excellent side wall. As I was going to change tire sizes in the future I figured might as well kill to birds with one stone. I have blown out in the last 6 months 17 tires...I get the replacement but it still costs $72.00. It starts to add up, not only that but changing a tire in those rocks is not fun. I have replaced the engine pan, the transmission pan, 6 shocks, 4 tie rods, 2 drag links, 1 pitman arm, 8 ball joints, 2 drive lines, 3 front axles, had to have gussets welded on the bent C's but they are still out 1 degree, 16 long arm bushings, and more. I have now installed armor everywhere I can, I have protected everything. Now I will do the tires and put them on inner and outer beadlock rims. I Just want to know if they fit.

Man! I checked out you're album!!! and I want to go out and play with you guys!!!!!

As far as the tires go, either go with flat fenders and a 1" body lift, or a bit more suspension lift... I would say that the fender/body lift would be a bit cheaper...

Agreed. I would try the fenders first tho... you might get just enough of the clearance you need. Tho looking at your photos your need all the clearance you can get. Really sick wheeling

damn woman with all the money you have spent on replacing parts you could have built a buggy for that kind of off roading.

I vote for the most economical $80-100 body lift, fender trim, and throwing a few washers into the steering to lock them away from damage at full turn in. Larger bumpstops may also be needed I've seen a few members on here running 37's w/3" of lift and some fender trimming so you should be able to fit them with a little tweaking.

btw your Jeeps got some serious cajones
