Default 34's on stock gears? will it work or am i asking for trouble?

Im looking to get 33's or 34 inch tires, i know i'll be ok with 33's in relation to gears

but will 34's need stronger gears? i checked that chart on the link for the "modified thread" and 34 seems borderline. i just wanna know if i'll be causing any premature wear on my axles?

I had to regear w/ 34mtr's. Lost to much power. BUT 5.13 are awesome.

Its not a question of strength. In fact, lower gears are actually cut thinner because the have more teeth. The question is, can you live with the loss of power? There are plenty of guys on here running 35's with stock gears. Personally, I'm running stock 32's with 3.73's and still think its geared to high. When I move up tire size, I'm regearing; no question.

I want your setup, do you mind showing pictures of your rig brother? And if don't mind me annoying you more, what was the price you paid for everything? Do you have springs or coils?

You have a manual. You'll be ok until you get around to re-gearing, you just won't be using 6th gear much. Since you have the lift, you may as well consider going on up to 35's though...

with 34 or 35, its ok on stock gears. if you live in a hilly area, then you're always downshifting. you will notice a loss of power.

I am debating going to a 34 or a 35 next year and I have 3.21s, 6 speed 2door. There is a guy in my club who has a 2 door with 3.73 in auto and he went to 35s and says it is livable. 3.21 in standard is much better in 3.73 in auto according to the chart. I think a lot has to do with wheter you have 6 speed or auto and I would think that a 2 door is easier to get away with than 4 door becasue of the extra weight on 4 doors. I think a lot of it depends on the sort of driving you do as well. I am going to upgrade tire size and see if I can live with it. If not I will save up and re-gear.

I have an auto and just went to 35's and will certainly regear. My boss has a manual with 35's and it is much better he is not. The advice I got reading here is make the change and then decide if a regear is necessary.
