Default Smittybilt G.E.A.R Seatcover

Alright guys, So I know there are some threads out there about these seats but the input is really not overwhelming. I have read some mixed reviews about the seat covers. I want to go with the black ones all things considered my Jeep is black so I think green or tan would look kinda off with grey seats.

Anyways. I have heard from some people that these covers do not fit the 2008 as well as they had hoped. That it is very tight and in order for it to look naturally fitting you have to make some adjustments. But I have also read that for some people they fit fine. I am trying to get some input here. Alsooo can I get some pictures of people who have this in theirs and see what they are doing with it etc!... I feel like I can't find any pictures of these covers/storage seats anywhere.

Thanks

Looks awesome man. Thanks. I wonder if you use say Armor All protection wipes on them black if it will preserve the color?

hmmm i would think if you sprayed them with some kind of uv protection you should be fine i was thinking of switching mine to black .. but i think the olive drab doesn't look to bad . they are also cool because you can move the pockets around put them on the front or sides of the seats if you want..

Yah I really like the idea of them considering there is no other storage in the jeep. The door pockets can barely fit a CD case. The glove box is full of tools extra parts etc.. and the center consol has CD's hoping to put a CB in there soon. So having the storage for maps, tools, phone etc right on the seat is nice

That picture is PERFECT!!!

I get the feeling they were designed for older seats. Our seats are very rectangular with squared, 90 degree corners. Older seats tapered in at the top. The top straps on these covers are shorter. In the picture you can see the strap digging into the seat and trying to pop over the top of the seat.

The above causes the cover to constantly creep up.

Ideally there would be a strap that goes through between the bottom of the Jeep seat and the backrest. This would keep the seat cover butt part, backrest and rear storage in position.

The seat part of the seat cover (driver side) creeps in toward the center console. This could just be caused by how I get in and out of the Jeep.

Side storage is limited at best. One side is against the center console. As you can see on the driver side, the seat height adjustment handle covers half of the loops. This wouldn't be an issue on the passenger side. Good idea but on stock driver seats not very useful.

They do hold quite a bit of weight. Laptop, various charge and computer cables, Handheld radio, flashlight and small (minature) hand tools. None of the loops look any worse for wear.

I'll definitely be picking up a pair once a little cash flow comes my way. I think they're sweet, plus they are actually useful in more ways then one.

I agree. Now my only thought is whether I should get the one for the driver seats or the one for the back of the bench in the back?

Any thoughts on that? I think I prefer the driver seat.

They are not a perfect fit, but I like them. They hold a lot of stuff. I use 303 fabric protectant on them to keep em from fading.

I would do driver. They also make one for the tailgate -- low cost and I would do that instead of the rear bench.
