Default 33's and 35's How much lift for each? REALLY!

It seems like everyone has a different opinion. From the guys on Quadratec to 4Wheelparts. Really, how much lift needed for each tire size (33 and 35)? Also, If I decide to go with a 2.5 coil lift...how difficult is it to install? Thanks for the info. I figure I'm better off asking the guys with experience!!

Got the tera 2.5 and it clears 35's no problem. Trimmed the fenders just to be on the say side though.

As far as install it is very easy

I ran 285/75r16's (33") with 4.5" of backspacing for a year with no lift and trimmed fenders with no rubbing what so ever when wheeling and fully flexing out disco'ed. My cousin runs same setup without the fender trim and has some rubbing of the fender liners.

When I ran my rough country 2.5 with stock fenders and a 1 inch body lift my mud grapplers would rub like crazy.

I did 3.5" with 35's. Very very happy. It's only money.

That's because there are so many variable, so everyone's experience will be a little different. That is, it's more than just lift height. Wheel offset, width; tire width; whether you wheel, whether any rubbing at all is acceptable to you--all of these affect the answer. Therefore, you can get a better answer if you provide additional information--exactly what size tires and exactly what wheels?

BTW: I had an RC 2.5" BB and experienced very light rubbing, nothing unacceptable to me, when wheeling very hard. Check my sig for the rest of the pertinent information. I've since replaced the BB with a TF coil lift. It was not technically difficult, but it took three of us pretty much all of a day to get the job done--but we weren't in any hurry, and we also replaced the trackbars. If you have a pretty good collection of tools, and you're handy with them, it shouldnt' be any problem for you. But do get a helper. I did pick up an additional inch or so of lift, mostly because the TF springs better compensate for the weight of all my mod's. Have not wheeled it as of yet, so can't comment on rubbing. I did also just add the Rock Krawler rear spring wedges to straighten out the rear springs and provide a bit more clearance between the JKS trackbar adjusting nut and the passenger side spring. That gave about 1/2" more lift on that axle.

Finally, if you haven't already, be sure to check out the FAQ ...

Multi faceted answer but i'll take a shot at it:
I see you have an x. The tires that come with that model I believe are about 30-31" tall. If you go with a 33 inch tire, depending on the tire, you should get approx 1-2" lift. If you go with 35's, about 2-2.5". Now if your tires are shorter than 30" tall, you can add that to my speculations above. Some 33's are actually 33" tall and others like mine are about 31.5". The same applies to the 35's. Lots of factors go into figuring out how much you would get.

I would say if you only want 33's go with a level kit. If you want 35's you will need a 2.5 or 3 inch lift. I went with the Teraflex 2.5 coil lift and 35's and the spacing is fine.
