I am interested in changing my stock shifter knob to an aftermarket one. Can anyone tell me what the thread size is for the 2007 JK Unlimited X? Has anyone else changed to a Hurst or B&M T -handle shift knob? I have tried researching this topic everywhere I can think of with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

they don't have a tread size, they just pop off.

So I guess that means you can't put an aftermarket shiftknob on then?

 

Yes you can they sell adapters so you can add nobs.

 

Can you tell me where I can find the adapters?

 

I was hoping someone would answer this? I am also looking for an adapter of some sorts, got me a new knob with threads that screws on, just need to figure out how to get it on/stay on.

Please advise.

 

alot of knobs come with plastic adapters. not sure where to buy them separately.

 

MOMO shift knobs fit perfect with no adaptors. You just put the trans in 2nd gear, pull as hard as you can and it pops off. Then put the new shift knob on and tighten the allen head nut/screw things and DONE!!! Easy mod. I found my yellow shift knob on E-bay.

 

Unfortunately I already have the shifter knob, so I have to figure out a way to install it now.

Was hoping to find some sleeve with some sort of set screw with a threaded top piece so I could slide the sleeve over the stick and then screw this on top. I am sure I could get some thing machined, but probably cost me a fortune.

This skull cost me $85, thinking some JB Weld maybe in my future. Anyone see any reason I would ever have to take the shifter knob off in the future once I JB Weld it in place?
