Stuck on Skid Row
I've been doing some reading, and it seems like Skid Row skid plates aren't all they're cracked up to be (although they DO look kinda sweet, albeit free advertising for SR).
Do you guys typically run without ANY form of skidplate there at all (in replacement of the front air dam, I mean), or are there other options that would be smarter?
I want to get rid of this stupid air dam on the front and put something that will actually be functional, AND give more visual appeal (I imagine the JK looks like it rides higher without the plastic bulge hanging down)
Thanks guys, as always, I'm impressed with the knowledge and know-how of everybody on this thing!

most people not only yank off the front air dam but some even go so far as to chop off the lower cross member that it attaches to for more clearance. a skid here is simply not needed. i personally wouldn't bother with something as big as an engine skid but i do agree that your oil pan should be protected and would recommend either of these two options instead:

Interesting. Yes, I've seen a few people mention the oil pan skid as being a fairly critical one (and a lot of evap skids/relocation, but nothing really happens when you lose your evap anyhow).
I just don't like the thought of exposing the e-disco so much.
Two follow up questions:
1. Are there any other skid plates like Skid Row that someone suggests?
2. Does the Skid Row plate cover the e-disco? I've heard it isn't wide enough to protect everything that it should.

That Skid Row plate is pure rip off! All it is, is a heavy billboard for them. It doesn't even protect the disco.
Spend your money on something useful like a toilet paper holder. I was so pissed after I put it on and saw what it wouldn't do that I swore I'd never even look at another Skidrow product.

i don't know how you managed to do that but, a cracked bell housing isn't really that big of a deal.
