Default Any differences in 07-10 unlimiteds? Also suspension/gearing question..

I'm currently looking for an unlimited to replace my heavily modded F350 (11'' adjustable Rize lift, spartan, etc, etc). I'd like to go back to not having a payment. The local ford dealer offered me a manageable amount for my truck. My question is, are there any differences in the 07-10 unlimited? Do some have the D44, and some have the d30?

My next question concerns the suspension. Do most people seem happy with the 4'' basic Teraflex kit? It will do more towing a small boat to the ramp than going off road. I just want it to clear the tires without rubbing.

This brings me to gearing. For 37's, what gear is most widely used with the automatic? I'll be doing a little towing, so I would rather overgear than under.

All info is appreciated. Luckily there are many JK's in my area for sale (Sarasota, FL area).

I will just reply to the gearing question.

For 37s with the auto the rule of thumb is go as low as will your rig will allow.

In general, Rubis have D44 front and back and you can go to 5.38s, others (for the most part) have D30s in the front and D44s in the rear. The lowest gear ratio for a D30 which is the minimum common denominator is 5.31.

There can be a wide variety of difference when it comes to the 07 - 08s. For one, in 07, Autos can with 4.10 gears. In 07 - 08 they nearly let you option it like a Rubi short the front locker. So you could get a rear locker and electronic front disco. But for 09 - 10 all that good stuff went away except for the option of a limited slip in the rear.

As to differences in the 07-10s, I know that the 10s have different door pockets--they're the full length of the door instead of napkin-size. Also, the Rubi has the D44 front and rear whereas I know the others have either D35's or D30's in front.
The dana 35's were only put on a for a short run in the 07 models. They are out there but rare. If you plan on re-gearing with an auto I would go min 5.13's. For the cost it is better to go a little on the high side then go low and want to do it again.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I ended up buying an 07 unlimited automatic this evening. I have 37's in the garage. I'm leaning towards the 4'' teraflex. I'm not concerned about the front end. The only time it will be in 4x4 is if the boat ramp is slick. I just want the best riding lifted jeep possible. If anyone has other opinions on lifts that have a stock like ride, please let me know. Again, thanks for the posts.
