Default Smittybilt XRC Fender Flares

I believe these are new fenders for the JK? They are manufactured by Smittybilt. I called Smittybilt on Friday and they told me that they begin shipping this week. Unlike the Bushwackers, these are 100% steel and a smaller profile. I kind of like them. I thought I would share them for anyone who might be interested.

I saw those too but I haven't heard anything good / bad about them. In the catalog I saw them in they were listed ~$100 less than the Xenon and Bushwacker plastic versions. If the fit is decent that's probably the way I'll go.

I saw some steel tube fenders by Warrior Products today that also looked pretty sweet. I'm also trying to decide which route I will eventually want to go. I haven't heard anything about the Smittybilt or the Warrior Products fenders.

There are several threads on this site about those flares.

Cliffnotes version:
Smittybilt started advertising them about 2 years ago or so on their site and in catalogs. They still haven't made it to market that I'm aware of though, they keep getting pushed back 3-6 months at a time. I placed my order for them through 4wd.com back in November of 09. Finally gave up and canxed the order in August of 09 and cut my OEM flares.

Advise: Find a new flare, or cut your own.

These flares look good. In fact they look exactly how you could trim the existing fenders...

Since they don't offer any extra protection like available tube fenders, why spend the $$?

I actually touched those flares yesterday on Smitty's demo
jeep.

They look like they are about 1/8" sheet metal and are definately an alternative to chopping the factory fenders for the max clearance / minimilist look.

Their demo jeep has a 6" lift, they built it just in time for Moab. I will take some pics the next time I go out to 4 wheel parts which is too often according to the wife!
