Default new lift = esp/bas light....what the hell is the problem?

this weekend i installed a rusty's 3.25 in lift on my jeep. i took the jeep in today and had the front end aligned, b/c the traction control light and esp/bas light came on today on my way to work. after the front end was aligned, the traction control light went off, but the esp/bas light is still on. i checked all the sensors on the wheels to ensure they were connected. the dealership said it was b/c of a sensor in the steering column that needed to be reset. is this true? any ideas to fix it?

Adding a lift will throw your stock geometry off - so you'd probably notice your steering wheel to be off center - either to the left or the right. Adjust your drag link to straighten the steering wheel back on [there's a write up in the Project-JK Write Up section to help you with this] and take it out for a drive. It'll take a couple of tries to get the steering wheel straightened back up and once you've done that, driving it for a few minutes will usually turn the light off. Basically, the lift changing the stock geometry confuses the computer to think that you're in a slide because the steering wheel if off. Hope this helps.

thanks for the input, but i actually had the steering wheel centered when the lights came on. everything is straight after the alignment, to include the steering wheel. maybe the light will go off on it's own after i drive it for a bit.

If the steering wheel has been straightened and the JK's tracking straight, yes, drive around for a while and it should turn itself off. The first time I got the lift and finished the alignment and straightened the wheel, it took about 15 - 30 mins of driving and it went off.

My light came on after my lift and 35's were done. It would only occur while turning in curves of roadway. I thought it had to do with tire size change.

I flashed the computer with the hyper tech max energy programmer and it fixed the problem.

If it comes back, check and see if you accidently broke one of the ABS sensors/wires.
