Default Driving w/ overdrive off sucking fuel?

Eversince going big it sucks driving on highway in oerdrive as it is constantly shifting in and and out of. So I just drive with it off.

I know I need to re-gear but need more $$ so I can install lockers at the same time. Until than Am I gonna cause any problems other than wasting fuel?

Driving O/D Off should actually cause less strain on the transmission, as it puts you in a better overall ratio. And at a guess, you'll get better mileage with it off as opposed to lugging the engine and constantly dropping out

Thanks for the reassurance that's what I thought. Just trying to post anything and everything I can. Even dumb nagging questions just to lose this newbie tag!

This is absolutely true and confirmed.
With stock sized tires and 3.73 gears, the Jeep wants to hunt for OD between ~40 and ~50 MPH.
Leaving it out of OD for trips in that speed range, I was able to repeatably get better MPG.
The key to good mileage is not getting the engine much above 2K RPM, at which point the fuel starts to disappear in a hurry.
By hunting for gears, your RPM will surge above 2K pretty much every time the lockup disengages to allow the shift.

Which gears does the converter lock up in ? 3rd and 4th ? It would be nice if it could lock up in first for crawling in 4lo, then maybe unlock if you touch the brakes.

3rd and 4th. I'm not sure if it will lock in 3rd, if O/D is allowed.

I have never seen mine lock with the selector in 1st or 2nd.
