Default Installing a Rubi rear elocker into a non Rubi d44 of an X

I am looking into making my rear D44 of my 08 Unlimited X locked. I can get a Rubi Elocker really cheap out of the rear of an 09 Rubi. Didnt know if anyone has done this and have tried the search with negative results. The D44 housings look the same excepted having to drill and tap a hole for the wires. I already have rubi rear axles and an overhaul kit with bearings for a rubi from a past gear change/axle swap. My only concern is if the bearings are different than what I have before I break down the rear. Looking for any comments or helpful input.

About 2 years ago another member successfully pulled it off, but I can't remember his screen name. I do rememeber that he had to find special bearings to fit the housing to the carrier. I believe they needed to be thinner. Also he had to cut one of the axles down and the other was somewhat short. Seemed like alot of headaches and he said he would not have done it if he had known ahead of time all the issues he would have.

GL with your decision.

Yeah that is the one I found. But he was using a front elocker out of a rubi. This would be a rear locker going into the rear axle. I did write down the bearings he used just in case no one has any idea. And as far as the him cutting down an axle shaft no a big deal I dont have to do that cuz I have the rubi axles.

Like the others here, I've heard of a Rubi locker installed into a non-rubi housing but it's a ton of work. Our PR44 housings are substantially different when comparing a conventional housing to a Rubi housing. The Rubi bearings are much larger. As others have mentioned, the axle lenghts are also different. The center line of the locker is diiferent than a Trac Lock or open diff. The locking mechanism uses up more room and off sets the axle to one side.
