Default Question about a new Woods front drive shaft

Had a local shop install a Woods front driveshaft for me. I haven't seen pics of any others installed, so had a question on whether the amount of spline showing is appropriate? Just seems like a bit too much there. Or maybe it's just the blue confusing me.
(OME HD's with 3/4" spacers on top)

Sure has made a mess slinging all that grease around...

Judging by the scale of the pic it looks like 6-8" of spline are exposed. Is that about right?

Umm, the front sleeve of your driveshaft is about 6in. deep, looks like you have about 3-3.5in of actual spline showing. That leaves only 2.5-3 in the sleeve. I had about 3.5 -4in showing on my JE reel and sent it back and got a longer one. I feel more comfortable with 2-2.5 showing. Maybe some with the amount with you have will chime in and say if there's fell apart or not. Looks to be abit much imo. But measure it, if it's 3in you should be good, 3.5 or more, I'd change it. I had also talked with David at northridge, he said 3in or less showing and I was still good. The way the axle articulates with the setup you have now shouldn't be a prob, but if I were you , put a tape measure to it and call woods and or send him a pic, ask his opinion.

I've got both front and rear Woods drive trains and that looks normal to me.

The measurement that Woods cares about -the only measurement- is this one:

Who took that measurement before the drive shaft was ordered, you or the shop? Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about it, however, for peace of mind you could always call Tom Woods directly and express your concerns. Have a tape measure handy and prepare to be impressed with their customer service.

I have a Woody in front and it is longer than that. I mean the driveshaft on mine is only showing 1" of the blue and a total of 2" of spline. I would say someone measured incorrectly or they made the length wrong. I would definitely be concerned because it looks like you could overextend the shaft during articulation. Measure the amount of spline showing and call Tom Woods about it. They are the experts and they will fix you up.

Thanks for the input folks!

Here are a few more pics.

I'll also send them off to Mr. Woods to see if they have any concerns about it.

2 -1/2" of spline showing is fine. There is 2 or 3 times that amount of spline in the front part of the shaft to allow for flex extension. The pictures made it look like 5" or 6" of spline which definitely would be an issue.
