Default New front bumper, no air dam, MPG drops

Anyone experience this? I have a Smittybilt XRC bumper, and a XRC8 winch I just installed on my JKU, and immediately my MPG dropped about 2 to 2.5 mpg. Does anyone make a skid plate that will force some more down under instead of through the front axle/suspension? Would like to pick some of those MPG back up if I can.

Thanks

Just FYI, I took my air dam off nearly 2 years ago and didn't notice any changes in MPG. Maybe you changed your driving style? nice setup, where are the pics?!

I'd think that the added weight of the winch and bumper affected your MPG more than the air dam did. Did the front end sag with the added weight too? That may also affect it. Just thinking though.

None of the reasons listed above alone can justify that decrease in MPG. It's probably a combination of several or all of them, so even if you find an air dam replacement don't expect to completely regain your MPG.

Body Armor makes something....plus it is all metal and goes in place of the plastic one...I have it and noticed no change in mpg...but like the othe guy said, could be your set up or driving style.

Default Air Damn

I have not changed my driving style at all. The front dropped less than an inch with the intall of the bumper and winch. I am running 91 octane with my ECU flashed for it with a Superchips programmer. Thanks for the input, I will need to do some more testing and just see if I can isolate it. I still have the old air damn, may put in on just for a short period to see if it changes back to where it was. This has me stumped.

I've got the Smittybuilt SRC with a Warn M8000 and lost around 2 MPG's also. I'm thinking those holes hurt more than they help.

You bet! Must be nice to have tiny hands and reach into tight places. I greatly appreciate your help hanging the bumper and the winch. I am still on the hunt for a high amperage fuse and fuse holder for the winch. It may not need it, but I figure its better to be safe than sorry. You can have those MPGs you took. I will let a neighbor get away with it!
