Default Good tire size for an auto 2008 wrangler with 3.73 gears?

I would like to keep 16" wheels and go with the BF Goodrich AT K/Os, but go up a size or two (say a max of 32") on tires. With an automatic transmission, will this affect performance and MPG?

I checked the ratio charts, but they don't really tell me what I need to know, or maybe they do and I am just an awful newbie! either way. thanks guys.

also, this vehicle is my daily driver.

Well...

I can tell you my results.
2010 Automatic 2 Door with 3.73's Bone Stock: 15.5 -16mpgs

2010 Automatic 2 Door with 3.73's Rubicon Tires (31.6") and Wheels (17"): 12.5 -14mpgs

Maybe, you get better gas mileage depending on your style of driving and terrain.

(edit: if you want to know the performance difference, it's not very noticeable. I DO HATE that it shifts up and down right at 69MPH, which happens to be around the MPH everyone drives here on the Freeways.)

This is similar to mine. I have been computing my own mileage based off my current stock tires P225/75R16, and have gotten 15.8, 15.2 and 15.8 for my past three fill-ups.

That's a decent drop in MPG for 3 inches!

I have the 2dr rubi, 4.10 and 32" tires. I get 20 ~ 22 on highway and 15 ~ 16 city. If that helps.

IMHO for your auto/3:73 JK ..... 33's would be tops before you see peformance and MPG go for a crapper.

I would agree-lost 2-3 mpg's when I went to 33's with 3.73 auto

I have a 09 4 door with 3:73's and auto and I've been running General Grabber AT2's 285/75/16 for over a year now and get 15 to 17 mpg. I get around 300 to 330 miles to a tank of gas. (that's when the gas light comes on). That's a combo of freeway driving and driving up and down the mountain 4 days a week. I live at 6200 feet. I cruise on the freeway at 75 mph at about 2000 rpm. Mine never downshifts unless i hit a pretty good grade. I have everything reprogrammed with the AEV ProCal.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all of your help on this guys! Should look pretty sweet.

Here's another one. i want those cragar rims...but there are no local dealers for me (mississippi) and quadratec doesn't sell the right lug patterns. our local tire/wheel store said they can only ship what they represent. i wonder if quadratec would make a special order?

either way, thanks for the insight
