if you are looking to use it every time you go wheeling go with superwinch or warn if you have the money, if not go with smittybilt XRC 10, i did and have had no issues at all and i have done plenty of recoveries.

x2.... I run the XRC 10, and for the price you cant beat it...No problems, a dozen or so recoveries with it...

#1. Buy a Warn.

#2. If you can't afford a new warn, wait for a used one to come up for sale.

#3. Given that you're running 35's, when you get stuck you're likely to get REAL stuck. That means two things: First, I'd reccomend getting a 9500 pound winch instead of an 8000 pound. Second, refer to point #1 above

I've had almost every brand of winch there is and for the last three years I've been running the XRC-8 with no problems at all.

I (and 2 other guys with XRC's) spent 7 hours winching a 4DR through a pretty rough trail after he broke an axle. None of us had any problems and we all use our winches fairly often. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I really recommend going with a Warn. I'm currently running a Warn M9500Ti and am very happy with it.

The Smitty's are hard to beat for the price though.

I have a Smittybilt XRC 10 and it works well. The controller did fail on me on the trial, but I have heard about Warn controllers failing too.

Superwinch is a good winch (I have one for sale in the for sale area (I won it at a Jamboree)).

Warn is the cats meow, however they are VERY expensive.

Smitty XRC 10 ~ $350
Superwinch Epi9.0i ~ $550
Superwinch EPi9.0s (Synthetic) ~$800
Warn 9500xt ~ $1200(!)

If you have the money and want the best of the best, buy a Warn, but I can buy 4 Smitty's for one Warn.

I run the XRC 8 with synthetic and it works very well. I even cracked the derby during the installation, called them and they sent me replacement parts no questions asked and no fee.
