Personally, before the CAI...get a Superchips programmer you will see much more gains from the programmer than just the CAI. Once you got your programmer add a Drop in AFe or similar high flow air filter into the stock box or add a CAI system. However, if you are considering doing lots of water crossings or mudding...I would steer clear of a CAI and look at a Snorkel instead.

I also have a "Drop In" K & N that will be included. 2010 JK 3,500 Miles on it. Trending Topics
Get a K&N drop-in filter and use your stock air box. Cold air intakes are usually hot air intakes. Think about it, it's in the 210*+ engine bay, open filter, sucking in hot air. If it's a stand alone sealed box that draws air from the outside via a ram or tube, then it's a CAI, but then you'd be spending hundreds for an air filter which IMO, is a waste of money. Plus, a lot less of a chance of getting the "CAI" filter soaked, even if you don't do water crossings.
I use the K&N stock replacement because a CAI would get ridiculously wet with the standing water and mud I go through. The stock air box keeps most of the engine splash out and what water does get in doesn't bother the K&N because it is oil impregnated. Light water splashes just beads on the oil not soaking like a paper filter would.
