Re-gear question and Off road capability
Yes another regear question. Yes I searched. 99% of the threads I see discuss highway and hills and daily driving stuff.
I want to know more about off road capability and re-gearing. I have 3.21s with 34s right now and find it very difficult to slowly crawl over rocks. I have to give it a fair amount of gas to start climbing a large rock but once I get going I have to ride the brake to keep myself going slow enough.
Will regearing to 4.88s dramaticly improve dirving slower/crawling or do I need the rubicon transfer case? I really enjoy playing in rocks but with my setup I am having to work the clutch too much and ride the brake a lot to keep from doing damage.
I have researched generic costs on here but the problem is I have no idea where I would even get his done. I wold assume this is too much for joe blow regular mechanic.

Either will help you out in the rocks, but gearing would be the better choice as it will help you out 100% of the time as opposed to the 2-3% you spend in 4lo in the rocks...
And no, you don't want to go to just any joe blow mechanic to get gears done. Find a drivetrain shop or 4x4 shop. Ask other 4wheelers in your area who they recommend.
