Default mirror bracket

hey everyone I just got my mirror relocation brackets in and I started putting them on.. My question is how do you get the factory mount off the mirror?

I tried twisting the mirror and it will loosen the housing but it wont come off..

did you remove the bolt from the bottom? Mine came right out when I removed the bolt. Are you taking the mirror mount off the door that came stock? That has 2 bolts that attach that if I am not mistaken. The Rugged Ridge relo's have a plate to replace the oem mirror mount for the door.

I unbolted the bottom bolt from the frame to the mirror and she stuck looks like some hammer time to try and get it unstuck...I can take the whole mirror frame off the door no problem... just getting the mirror off the door frame piece is giving me a fit...

The easy way I found to do it is leave the whole thing attached to the truck. Take the bolt out of the bottom that holds the mirror on the stock mount. Then fold the mirror in towards the truck and slam it back out so it locks back to its normal position. Do this a few times and it should let go.

I believe this is the method I used.

The driver side was easy, but I believe the passenger side was assembled by superman.

Just be careful, I believe several people broke the plastic shaft of the mirror...requiring a new unit!
