Default EVO Rock Star skids

I was about to get these, but after looking at the mounts, why can't a guy be real carefull when cutting the lower shock bracket off, raise it up and weld it back on? Then cut off the lower part and weld a plate across the bottom for a skid.

I have the Rock Stars, but i dont see why that couldnt be done. To be honest, i can fabricate alot of the things that are sold, but its so much easier just to buy them, and always less trouble. Also, with the rock stars, you gain alot of strength. You have 3/16 or 1/4 steel with the rock stars going over the factory stuff vs keeping the thin factory stuff.
