Default Dana 44 front axle seal leak--message from dealer

Allright I brought in my rig to have the axle seals replaced. I had been having a very slight seep, not to where I was really losing any fluid. They were suprisingly going to warranty the work even with the work that I had done to it. They claimed that it is overfilled and will very slowly seep out. They stated that the fluid must remain below the axle shaft, hence below the seal. The service manager thought that sounded funny but said the guy knows what hes talking about. I currently have about 1.6L with front SOLID diff covers. What do you all think?

I had all my seals replaced in my D30 when it was leaking at under 6k miles and i did a stream crossing. I got a milkshake the next day. the dealer replaced inner and outer seals on both sides and mine is still seaping oil on just one side. so i have a hard time thinking its an over fill. i choose a bad seat on the seal

Come to think of it, I never had a leak until I switch to synthetic. I am going to go back to dino and decrease the volume and see what happens.

I deliberately overfilled my front axle to ensure enough oil gets to the high pinion bearings.
IIRC, it is about 6 oz. above the bottom of the fill hole, equal to the factory fill.
Mine is not leaking. Could be because the seal is well lubricated. Seals do count on the oil for a proper life span.

There are some old, old post here somewhere about that. OP's did state that lowering the fluid level did solve the problem. You'd think the breather would take care of that, but that breather can get plugged up.
