Default 15" rims Versus 17" stock rims.

I need some advice about rims and tires.

I have been pricing tires for the JK and found that 17" tires are not cheap. It was the same way on my previous vehicle as well. I am on a budget having a vindictive ex. wife and two ungrateful kids and are trying to afford an upgrade in tires.

The cost difference between a 15" tire and a 17" tire is staggering. I can buy new 15" rims and have them otfitted with new tires cheaper than if I was to buy 17" tires for the stock rims.

Have any of you switched to a 15" rim on a JK? Was there/are there any known issues with the size of the rotors/ brake components behind?

Any help would be appreciated.

I went with a 16" rim to be sure I wouldn't have any rubbing issues. Tires for the 16's were about $100 a tire cheaper than the 17's. Some 15's will fit and some will require minor grinding on the brakes. There are lots of threads around here on the subject that a quick search will find

We need a sticky that lists all the 15" rims that do not; rub, need grinding or spaces to fit. A sticky list wuld be a great idea.

You may want to PM the Discount Tire sponsor on here, I will be making the switch from stock 17" to 15" and KM2's based on this thread.

As I have found the same cost difference between 17 and 15 inch tire sizes.

But back on topic, my first set of tires were 18" $$$$$ with the stock wheels. Next time around I'll be going with some 16" and a new set of wheels, at least that's the plan.

Maybe she's a spokesperson for a sunscreen company and she'd lose her job if her employer knew it was her with such a sunburn.

You know what I am getting at. She looks like a nice looking lady, so what's the point of hiding her identity. If your posting a shot of her looking risqué, that something different. But a normal photo posted on a nice forum, and the subject is about tires ?

Keep in mind if you even plan on going to 37's, some manufacturers do not make a 37 for a 15" wheel. (BFG, new mtr/k's)

My details in sig
