Default Anyone running the Mamba MR-1 wheels

yes I know they look a lot like the factory ones, but they are actually the TJ style (not flat & have a deeper dish to them) Rubicon wheels for the JK and the backspacing is a lot better than factory at 4 1/4. I loved the previous style TJ Rubicon wheels and like the ones on the JK but my opinion is they are too flat and have too deep of a backspacing for me. I am thanking of selling my AEV pintlers and trying these but wondered if anyone had a pic of the 17x8s on a JK. Thanks

I just bought a set a few weeks ago. A long wait to get them but I think the distributors are now loaded up with them. I'll post some pictures this evening.

As for looks they look pretty much like stock which was the look I was going for. Just don't like more than 5 spokes for a 5 lug wheel.

Here's a quick picture the wife had elsewhere.

Just got mine today....I do believe these wheels are slightly more 'concave' then the stock 17's. They are more reminiscent of the 16" rubicon wheels of the TJ's....just one inch larger diameter

all in all I like them more than the stock wheels due to the minor differences....backspacing and concavity among them...not to mention the ability to squeeze on a 13.5" wide tire (which are going on early next week)

The face is definitely more concave than the stock aluminum wheels. The stock 17s are 17" x 7.5" w/6.25" backspacing. The MR-1 17s are 17" x 8" w/4.25" backspacing. As far as looks go not many are ever going to notice they are different than stock without closer examination. As far as function they have the right width and appropriate backspacing to be able to accomodate a wide variety of up sized tires.

That is exactly what I thought and exactly what I wanted to hear. I have a black 4 door also but I was thinking of the ones I posted with the silver and gunmetal on the inside. Almost like the Rubicon Unlimited Sahara edition wheels were. I am dying to see them. Now I just have to sale my AEV pintlers.

I really liked the TJ Moab wheels on my '06 Rubi and hated the fact that the JK Moabs were changed to 17x7.5 and lost that "dished" look.

I was thinking about buying the AEV Pintlers, but these wheels are now at the top of my list along with either 285/70/17 or 305/65/17 KM2's

I too was once considering the Pintlers but their 4.75" backspacing is a little tight when running tires with 12.5" width or greater. Not that they won't work for running 35x12.5s, just a little tight and at about the minimum for backspacing.

I have the argent pintlers and the main thing I hate about them is they are not powder coated like I thought when I bought them, but are liquid paint dipped. They chip way, way too easily (when rotating them drop a lug nut and they chip). If I had to do it over again I wouldn't buy them. just not worth it after havig them for the offroading I do. That's why I am so interested in these.
