Default What's Wrong with My JKS Quick Disco's?

Ok, so I put them on, and now, when I drive down the road, and the wheels travel up and down over the irregularities of the road, OR when I turn quickly, I hear this loud CLICKING. I put the vehicle stationary and had my brother spin the steering wheel back and forth, and when it hit lock at either end, I saw the axle end of the disconnects travel up a bit and then they CLICKED as the bolt that holds the disco on to the axle bracket topped out in the hole. So, I'm arriving at the conclusion that the noise I was hearing while I'm driving is just that. I never realized that the hole was that much bigger than the retaining bolt. Am I missing a part? Did I get the wrong ones? Is this supposed to happen?

I remember hearing the exact same clicking on a few rigs at the York, PA jeep show on the course and I had no idea what it was. Now, I might. Any ideas?? It's driving me nuts, and I can't help but think I'm going to shear that bolt right off!!

Sounds to me like you got the wrong parts. Mine fit tight and are quiet.

your bolts fit snug through the axle mounting brackets?? I think there was a disparity in size on the lower bolts and brackets. Not sure. I Loc-tighted them, but I don't think I torqued them hard enough. I don't have a torque wrench.

I'll try to take some pic's!!

Yep, they loosened up on me also. Loctite'd and re-tightened the bolts, and good ever since.

It's an installation problem. Mine are perfect and don't make a sound.

I re-torqued them as tight as I could get them. They were rather loose. But I bent the hell out of the screwdriver I had inserted in the pinholes. I think the instructions saying to keep the holes pointed horizontally is all washed up! I can't get it torqued much unless i let part of it sit on the tie rod or track bar, and then, I bent the screw driver. Can't access the holes from the rear because of the axle. Perhaps I need to grease them again. I greased both fittings till it came out every crack in the disconnect.

I don't have any up or down movement at the bolt insertion into the mounting bracket, so I must have been wrong about that one. So, NO ONE has any clicking noises at all with these???

I bent up the first screwdriver also, which is probably why they didn't get tight enough and loosened up on me. Used a better one the second time around

No clicking at all with mine. Are you sure it's the disco's making the noise? Everything else is torqued tight? Like the trackbar bolts?

Every time you put something on your truck, wheels, Disco's whatever always re-torque at about 50-60 miles and then again at about 500miles...

It should all be sweet after that...

New parts need time to seat properly and will always need tightening up until there worn in so to speak...
