Default Son of a M&*()&&()( (Stripped my mirror) UPDATED!

Installed my Rugged Ridge Relocation brackets this evening, installed both of them just fine, then I had to mess with it.

I read the directions carefully and was attempting to tighted the driverside just a little bit more so that the folding action would work...used a little more force and then.....it went slack.....G(* D8*#(#

So, what should I do? I pushed really hard and got the bolt to tighten up but the mirror moves pretty easily.

I guess I will need to buy a new mirror!

Nice. I took one of the bolts from the door hole cover. It threaded right in place, I was actually able to tighten it ALOT tighter than the right side and it didnt strip.

Now I just need to go to jeep and get another one of the longer bolts. Hopefully they are pretty inexpensive.

Not exactly certain what you stripped, but a data point for next time that may prove useful: Heli-Coil. Google it.

I did the exact same thing last year, and I ended up finding the same solution. I just ended up swapping the two bolts and leaving it that way. The bolts on the inside of the door are mismatched now, but you only see it when the door is open and its not noticable.

I did not strip bolts when I did mine but I will say that those mirrors are a PAIN to pull off..

one of them came loose as I was basically squatting with all my force and when the mirror finally came loose it him me in the chin... My 16 month old daughter got quite a kick out of my pain

Hate to say it, but you got screwed. I picked up 2 of the bolts yesterday. They were $6.80 each, however I will be returning them.

I will also be returning the relocation brackets. Nothing against the good people at Rugged Ridge but I feel that my safety is at risk using these relocation brackets.

I would have preferred "functionality" over "Looks".

The passenger side mirror is completely useless, it also isn't that great even with the doors off as part of the dash covers the mirror as well.

I nearly rear-ended the car in front of me attempting to look behind me to make sure I could merge into the lane on my right.

Unfortunately I've already installed them, hopefully the place I purchased them from will still take them back and give me a refund, if not....you will see these listed in the exchange board very soon.
