Default Toyota Rescue/Snake avoidance

After setting up camp in a remote river area I noticed it looked like we may get some rare company coming down the trail. Not the case. By the time we got back up there to help the husband had attemped to hike out and the wife was very thirsty. She had been there for about 4 hours with no water! Not good when it is 98 degree and very humid. The JK was able to pull out the much heavier Sequoia but I did get spooked when my buddy hopped out of the Sequoia on the hill side and it started pulling both rigs down even with the Sequoia in park and the E-brake on. My son had a close call with a rattlesnake during the recovery and that too scared the crap out of me! I checked the area around the tree first, no snake. After about five minutes a small rattler had move into the area. My dog has been rattlesnake trained and pulled my son away, she may have saved his life. Absolutly priceless training.
The lesson I learn on this trip -
If you think it is safer for you kids or wife to be outside the vehicle during a recovery attemp keep them at a safe distance on the trail/road so snakes can be seen and avoided with ease. The shade of a Juniper tree is a place snakes will move into. In the end we did not get bit, got the vehicle out and found the husband.

Good story. I am always amazed how many people go unprepared out to remote locations. No water when it's 98 out? Amazing. They were lucky you came along.
