Default 285/75/16 Duratrac proper tire pressure?

When I got my Duratracs (Load Range E) I was told that I should be running them at 45 psi or higher according to my dealer. He said that anything lower will cause them to heat up too much and cause improper wear etc etc. I have them at around 32-33 psi right now and I can't complain about the ride but planning on pumping them up a bit for peace of mind..

I am wondering what PSI anyone is running with some ~33" inch Duratracs on 16's. What would be optimal for mileage/wear/safety?

... Does wheel size make a difference for tire pressure? I have only found posts with mostly 17/18" wheels.

Thanks everyone.

30-35 psi should do the trick I run mine at 35 psi
rim size should not matter
use a piece of chalk and draw a line across the tread and drive about 100' see where the line is worn and adjust from there
center too much psi edges not enough should be worn evenly.

33 to 37 PSI is adequate.... Running 45 PSI will wear out the tread center rather quickly. No, they will not heat up excessively. I can't imagine that the "dealer" has clue one. As tires warm up, pressure increases. So, your 45 PSI will be more like 48 PSI at operating temperature.

Besides, load range E tires will be very stiff at 35 PSI, running 45 PSI will loosen teeth. Not to mention that the Jeep will feel skittish and will vault over rough pavement. The 32-33 PSI you're running now, is just fine.

I'll have to try the chalk test, good to know.

Thanks for the replies!
