Default B&M Hi-Tek Automatic Transmission Coolers or Derale

I'm curious if anyone has experience with this transmission cooler from B&M Racing.
Two sizes are available - one with a 7 inch fan and another with a 9 inch fan.

Derale Direct Fit Transmission Cooler available from Quadratec is another option even though its specifically set up for TJs and YJs.

Not sure if it was the specific model you mentioned, but there's a couple of write ups on B&M Auxiliary Transmission Cooler installs. Here's a link to one of them:

Thanks, I have read that thread. It's B&M's non fan style. The non fan style is an easier fit and may be enough. I'm just concerned about the hot days crawling on rocks. With my 2 dr Rubicon my trans has been as hot as 220 F (via AeroForce Guage) and I prefer to have my automatic much cooler. I'm assuming if I load the Jeep up with tools, camping gear, etc. it may get even hotter. A problem those with manuals don't have to worry about.

Default B&M Hi-Tek fan and cooler

Bump

Any one installed this B&M setup? Seems pretty cool, the fan is controlled by a built in temp switch. I'm about to install a aux cooler before I start pulling a popup this summer, I really don't need the fan since I should be moving down the road when the cooler is really needed. But it's a cool option, I did catch a thread on here where a guy attached a 7.5" spal fan to a B&M aux cooler, also neat and cheaper, but more complex to mount and configure the switch to be auto temp or man.

this is a derale 13613 with a 7 inch fluidyne fan works great. Fans on a thermostat comes on at 180 deg attached to a relay switch. I live in central california gets hot here in summer. driving around town stop and go traffic the fan come on alot. I used the 180 deg thermostat but u can use whatever turn on temp u want. The fans behind it, it's a puller.

Cool thanks for the input, I'm about to install the regular B&M without the fan, if i find that the temperature is getting into the 200s then I might just add a spal fan. The summers are bad here also.

Mind the thickness of the cooler your going to install if u may add a fan later. The derale listed is 1 1/4 inchs thick. After installing I had a 1/4 inch between the fan and radiator. Also a 1/4 inch between the cooler and grill. It's close, but fits, it also had the threaded 1/2 inch inch inlet and outlet I wanted to attach the thermostat to.

I also used a derale relay but you can use any brand there pretty much all the same. The relay is connected to the m9 slot in the fuse box to trip the relay. m9 is for heated seats which I dont have, it's switched power. Use a fuse tap it's simple to do.

There is a guy on here that did a write up attaching a 7.5" spal fan to a B&M cooler. I think he fabricated some brackets that angled in giving him the space needed.
