How young is to young to let your kids ride with the top off the jeep.

My son has been riding with no top since he was born. The top offers no protection whatsoever. It makes no difference in terms of safety. Doors on or off is debatable. For me, he is strapped in a carseat so I see no problem with it. (Probably reconsider when he outgrows the carseat.) He loves riding around with the doors off!

SUNSCREEN, that's all ya need. Top off, no biggie at all... We drive around town roads (no highway) with my 4 1/2 y.o. in his car seat in the middle position with no rear doors. We get some dirty looks and we get LOTS of thumbs up and waves.

Your kid, your choice. Do what YOU think is best!

Good question and responses. I've been wrestling with this too. I guess the only thing I'm really worried about is the off chance that some debris, like a stone, stick, pebble, whatever flies in and hits. But I guess in the middle and especially when rear facing that's pretty unlikely.

Back doors on, only because she can undo the car seat buckle and I cant watch her every single second. I dont think she would ever do it while I am driving, butt, just incase. She is 2.5. At 4 she would probably be fine if she continues to listen to mommy and daddy.

+1 I waited until she was 4 months mostly because I was afraid of her getting cold. Been running the top off for the better part the past three months I she loves it (now 7 months). Do agree with the sunscreen, she has a visor in her car seat but her legs do get exposed. Have door without doors, only have a 2 DR so not too much of a concern there.

My daughter is 4 months and has been riding with the top off/rear doors on for a month now. I got a bit worried about the sun so I got a spider web shade (pics below). It knocks out much of the sun and some of the wind when installed in the configuration below. It still gets windy, especially when the front doors were off. Yestarday It was pretty windy, so when I stopped at a redlight I leaned back and she was fast asleep...nothing to worry about
