Amsteel blue is the standard. Get the same size synthetic as your steel the most common for 8000-9500lb winches is 5/16th.

I have Viking and as mentioned above, I stuck with the same size as the cable that came on the winch.

This really depends on your winch i.e the size and what length line comes on it. There are many choices for synth they vary in price and strength.

Cheapest - Smittybuilt
Moderate - Viking winchline
Moderate - Masterpull ( i beleive they list the highest breaking strength)
Outrageous - Warn

With viking you can get a "safety thimble" built into the line a very nicely built piece that will provide a positive stop and save you some greif sometimes.

You can get the saftey thimble alone and thread it in yourself but much easier to get already done.

I have a Warn 9.5ti

Dave at Northridge4x4 suggested the 3/8 line for my setup and infrequent use.

Product ID: VIKING-TRAILLINE

> Thickness & Length : 3/8" x 100'
> Rope Color : Orange
> Hook Type : No Hook
> Line Protector : 10' Line Protector
> Thimble Eye Type : Winch Safety Thimble Eye

You can order it right off the site: northridge4x4.com
