Default Smittybilt xrc8 question

Hey all, I have seen a few smittybilt winches on here that have a rubber band type thing on the line and I realized that mine doesn't have it? Is it supposed to help with re spooling? Because i haw been having problems respooling my steel line neatly....must it be neat anyway? Sorry for the newb questions, it's my first winch. Thanks in advance.

i think your referring to the first couple feet on a synthetic line..ive never handled sythetic line but i think it is just an overlapping/shield to protect the lines first couple feet..

It's not just on synth line, In this pic on the left of the roller on the line appears to be some kind rubber band or somethingnlike that.

Just wondering if I actually need it, because mine for some reason did not come with it. Also, those with this winch do you guys suggest a new hook? The one that comes with the winch is only rated for 2000 pounds?

I believe that rubber band in the picture is there to hold the cable from unspooling in transit. After you install the winch and hook it isn't needed.

Sweet, thanks. I didn't think it was something important, I just wondered about it.
