Wheel spacers? Dangerous or BS
I had just installed some Falken tires Which are great by the way but hey rubbed a little so I put some Rugged ridge wheel spacers on, I went to have my tires rotated and the local shop (where I bough the tires Evans) won't do it. So has anyone anywhere ever actually heard of any kind of wheel spacer failing or is it all just hype? I will the tires my self and check the torque on the spacers I am curious.
Not hype, but most of the horror stories are caused by the thin spacers that are sandwiched between the hub and wheel, which causes the lugnuts to be held on by very few threads. Or from improper install or not maintaining the good ones.
Get the kind with two sets of bolts (spacer bolted to hub, wheel bolted to spacer), check the torque at every rotation, and you'll be fine.
