Default Rear Recovery Point - Rubicon w/o Receiver

Hi Everyone,

I have been searching the posts; but, I haven't found anything specific regarding recovery points on a stock rear bumper.

The rear bumper/tire carrier is a little ways down the list of mods, although not too far.

I don't have a receiver for a hitch, so I'm trying to figure out if there's someplace I can use a shackle on the frame, or if I need to install some sort of recovery point on the rear of the JK. If adding a receovery point on the rear is the best idea, I am hoping someone can recommend the type and location that they found useful.

Thanks

Jeff

With a Rubi you should have a recovery hook in the rear.

x2 should hang down just below the bumper on driver side.

Default Shackle thru the Frame?

Thanks for your reply.

My Jeep's in the shop, so I can't look at it right away. Can you give me a little more detail about what you are suggesting? Is there someplace I can use a shackle without welding something onto the frame, or is welding what you are referring to?

Thanks for your input.

Welding?

The hook is already there.

It may be off to the left side like this one.

yes it should be there already if it isn't give me a ring. i have a stock rear bumper and i will give you the hook off of it. it bolts to the frame and you don't need a shackel. you put the strap over the hook or you can use a shackel off a winch on that hook as well. it is kind of like the hooks on the front bumper but only one in the rear.

off topic, but interesting gas tank there...

There is no place "on" the rear bumper to mount one, never has been. There is either one mounted centrally in lieu of the stock hitch, or off on the driver's side, both of which are frame mounted. That tupperware wouldnt hold a picture hook with any certainty.

If you dont have one, find someone with a stock center hook (like me) or the stock driver's side hook (like codysanders) and just bolt it up until you upgrade.
I had the stock center hook, broomed it for a hitch and used the shackle insert for a while, now I have a new bumper so dont need either.

Default Thanks Everyone

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of the feedback.

As much as I have been underneath the JK I sure would think that I would have noticed the hook. I'll make sure to take a look when I get it back from the shop.

Take Care

Jeff

So, if you have the hitch you dont have the hook then? Because I have a hitch, but I dont have a hook anywhere.

Sorry for the hijack I'm just curious about this also
