Default Custom rear bumper with rear winch

My winter project has been set. The rear end of the JK is not the most ideal for the wheeling that we do, and the rear bumper is essentially a Fisher Price special turd. So, a new custom built bumper is in the works. It will take my departure angle from 45 degrees and hopefully bring it into the 60 degree range. This will require alot more than just fabin' a bumper. I will be cutting off the rear framehorns, elevating and advancing the bumper mounting points. Challenges will include integrating a trailer hitch that is out of the way. While I'm at it, I figured I would install a rear mounted winch located inside the storage compartment in the tub. This will require a one-off frame mounted winch mount with access into the body. This will take me a while as I won't be rushing at all. Designs are done, 3/16" steel is being bent as we speak. Pics to follow

I'm waiting for the Steel to be delivered. I had everything bent instead of cutting and welding all the peices together. Now, I'll just have to weld the seems. Got a Warn powerplant for the front that I'll be installing tomorow. That frees up my superwinch to put in the rear storage bin... the exhaust is relocated. This will be a slow going project because I'll be taking my time on it as well. I'm not in a hurry and I need a winter project for those days that it's -40 outside

This'll be a great winter project, my rear bumper and carrier took just over 3 months

As for my winter project, I see a front bumper coming my way

Nice to have a slow and relaxed project going on. Work on it a few hours per week and don't rush. No stress! As with any project I expect some things to change. I was initially hoping to utilize the Rugged Ridge clevis and tow points from their XHD front bumper but turns out that they don't sell these seperately. Now I'll just some tow
points from 1" steel and burn them on real good. Function is of the utmost importance but styling is also required. High clearance, increase departure angle, increased room in the wheel well for large tires, ability to mount custom removable
mud flaps and integrated rear winch are my goals.

Youre lucky, I often find myself scrambling to get certain parts back on so it is street legal just so I could get to class in time, then I come home and tear it all apart again
