Default E-85 . Still running 45% Ethonal 54,000 miles on th JK

Im still running 45% Ethonal in my JK and have 54,000 miles on the jeep. I do not notice any diference in fuel economy. I have an eco gage thet tells me my fuel millage. I dont notice any fuel performance difference. I have 37 inch tires,4.10 gears and a manual trans,and hypermax programer. I can get an average of 17 to 19 mpg on the expressway and 23 mpg at 54mph.

Is the JK approved for more than 10% ethanol? If not, have you converted the entire fuel system to ethanol-friendly materials?

Ethanol is corrosive to some traditional fuel system components.

not 85% ethanol...

85 octane

ethanol=crap

not only is it dirtier and less efficient, nobody ever thought about how much energy goes into growing the damn corn in the first place. Only Archer Daniels Midland and the politicians who are invested in them (or receive campaign funds from them) like the damn stuff. the rest of us educated rabble should boycott it...

Nope. E85 does mean up to 85% ethanol. In practice it is usually 70-85%. E85 typically has a higher octane than regular gas, but less than premium. More ethanol increases the octane but decreases energy content (usually reducing mileage, but increasing power if the computer advances the ignition).

But I agree that corn ethanol isn't a solution. Now sugar or switchgrass (waste) ethanol on the other hand........

Lol... I couldn't figure out where the 45% was coming from, but that makes sense now.

Did you change out your fuel lines? I'd imagine that 45% ethanol (over time) wouldn't be so kind to the fuel system in the JK.

I have worked at several E-85 plants . After the corn goes through the refinery the corn mash gets put into big tumble dryers and turns into corn flakes for animal feed , and that is ware they make the big profit. the ethonal is just a by product.

Also, to help out the local economy, I should throw my two cents in... Just buy E10 gas from a QT or Sinclair... you gotta help support the Tulsa economy

99% of most cars today are flex fuel friendly but lack the computer programing to squirt in a litle extra ethonal fuel for compinsation. More than 45% ethonal in the jeep it pings at around 4,500 rpms.
