Herculined my tub this weekend
I got bored this weekend, and my carpet smelled awful, so I started pulling carpet out, then I got to drinking a few beers, then reading the forum, then begging the fiance to drive me to the auto parts store to get a herculiner kit
Before I knew it, all the carpet was out, seats were getting pulled, trim pieces removed, electrical wires tied to the cage.... you get the idea.
I just got done bolting the rear seat back in, so it is all back together (too dark for pics with everything back in, but maybe tomorrow)
Here are pics of the process in no real order. Looks like I was too drunk to take pictures after the prep work was done.
Helpful Tips:
- Use scoch-brite pads on a dry tub for best results
- Golf Tees wrapped in painter's tape work great for filling the bolt holes for the seats
- Wrap the exposed bolts so you can get the nuts back on
- Don't bust a nut getting the seatbelt / seat bolts out, visit a friend with air tools and offer him some of your precious beers.
- Make sure to scuff everywhere, the liner will not stick to gloss AT ALL.
- Get a helper when you start applying the bedliner. My fiance did the brush work and I manned the roller. Do seams first, then larger areas. Use the brush to touch up around bolts / holes
- Don't run out of beer (or forget that you can't buy on Sunday depending on where you live
-Always re-mix the bucket of liner before you pour more in your tray
- Use an electric drill to mix the liner
- Apply one coat towards the front of the jeep, wait 3 hours, then apply the second coat towards the side of the jeep to cover all areas.
- Touch up is easy if you miss any spots.
My Process:
Day 1: Remove all seats and carpet + scuff all areas. Store seats inside jeep on blanket to prevent deep scratches.
Day 2: Wash tub with soap and water, then acetone. Touch up any missed areas, and re-rinse with acetone. then roll on the liner.

Total cost of this was $118 including the herculiner kit, golf tees, masking tape, an extra brush, and two pairs of rubber gloves. Leaves you with $582 for other mods.
If I had $582 laying around...
-Evap Skid
-RR front skid
-Flashpaq
or
Teraflex 3" suspension lift
or
-Evap Skid
-RR Front skid
-Coverking seat covers
-AFE airfilter
-Another pair of KC Slimlights (fog pattern)
Man.... I want too much stuff

Nope, no beer on sunday in Indiana (unless you go to a place that brews their own beer, and purchase a Growler (64oz) to go.
The Herculiner does stink pretty bad. I have had my top and doors off since I did it, and I don't smell it any more. I will see how it goes when I put the top back on.
