I'm going to try and say this as politely as I can. I see this post alot on here and other Jeep related forums.

It's Rugged Ridge. Made in China crap where nothing is exact, their tolerances are ~.125". If you have the option of taking it back please do and fork over the extra coin for something that was made here in the states. Stay away from anything that Smittybuilt makes as well. Support the companies and fellow citizens here in the states that work in the Jeep aftermarket industry by buying their products. Besides being all patriotic and what not, you'll have alot less headaches in the future. Just my $.02, but I'm sure a couple of you out there will completely disagree with me because you have had no issues with your RR stuff. If so you're the 2 out of a hundred that hit the jackpot. Best of luck. -CK

If you have some images to help me better understand your issue I'll be very happy to help you. Despite what CACHE KRAWLER may think we do stand behind our product and work very hard to insure that it is made correctly. Please PM me and we can work from there.

All I can say is that we employee well over 60 full time employees (US) and have added 4-5 new jobs just in the last 6 months alone (Last time I checked that was a good thing). The argument that we are taking or causing the loss of American jobs does not hold water. Remember there are two sides to your story.

CACHE KRAWLER, I respect your view and understand better than you think the need to keep jobs here. My father worked at GM, on the assembly line, for over 35 years. I have seen the good and I have seen the bad. I have seen what works and what does not. .... I will let you know that our products are design, engineered and developed here. We utilize and hire (US) fabrication companies and machine shops to help with complex products...Our purchasing, accounting, warehousing and administration are here. Our packaging and kitting are also here and believe it or not we will also soon have manufacturing.

Before you trash any company I would take a moment to think of just how many people are employed by them.. Smitty, Rugged Ridge, and A LOT of other companies that you think are 100% USA provide a good living and security in these hard times.

If you have a Rugged Ridge product that you were not happy with, please let me know. I will be more than happy to discuss it with you to see what we can do better... I like my job and am proud of the products we offer... We provide products to consumers that fill their needs on both a functional and price point aspect. .... I'm sorry we have not been able to convince you otherwise.

Sorry, I'm off my soap box now.

I put on the SRC side armor w/steps last night. We had to hit the front passenger end with a mallet to get it over the bolts but other than that it wasnt that bad.

I have a rugged ridge bumper, winch and rear hitch and they are great! It was probably just a manufacturing issue. Let them make it right. Really how many companies ask for user product development and usage like rugged ridge.

Good response Rugged Ridge. I have purchased some of your products and from reading your response I will absolutely continue to patronize your company. Being in business I realize that you will not please everyone but you have to keep trying to fix bad situations that will arise. Your efforts will most likely be rewarded.

I don't think that this is an issue with they way that Rugged Ridge made the part.
You will see play in all reciever hitches. It is there so that you can actually get the part that you put into the reciever, out again without the aid of a BFH.
Most items placed in the reciever will have enough tounge weight that the play is not noticed while driving. Others may require some type of clamping mechanism that is usually part of the component itself and not the reciever.
I would suspect that once you put a load on the items that you have it might not be much of an issue anymore. If it is, you could try a hardwood wedge or create a clamp yourself by drilling a hole through the part of the component that goes into the reciever and using a bolt that is threaded into some bar stock long enough to go over the lip of the reciever (the bottom), when tightened, it will cure your problem.

Of course, this won't help with your reciever shackle, but you can just leave it off until you need to use it.

This is fairly common. so much so, that there are companies that make products to help. Like this: hxxp://www.cabelas.com/p-0009871520365a.shtml

I wouldn't blame RR for this problem. Could they make the tolerance a little closer? Sure. But then there will be posts about how people have to use BFHs to get the receiver and hitch together, and having to use a pull strap and their buddy's Jeep to get it back out.

I had the same issue with my Warn bumper / hitch receiver on my TJ, as well as the same thing with the OEM one on my JK.

Every hitch receiver I've ever had has had play. That's why I got one for the jeep that has a third "pin hole" to use with a anti-rattle hitch pin. I don't know if the RR hitch has this. If so, get an anti-rattle pin (will look like a candy-cane). If it doesn't, you can always try drilling your own hole for one or getting another anti-rattle device.
