Default Owners of Element doors. Think it's possible to thread the hinge pin?

Hi, I am considering buying the highrock element tube doors but unlike other brands they don't allow you to bolt the doors onto the hinges.

For those of you who have these doors, do you think it is possible to thread the hinge pin and put a nut on it or perhaps the factory door nut?

I'm not interested in locking the doors. I can't imagine going around to all 4 doors and locking them all the time. I'm not parking outside overnight either so a simple nut on the hinge will keep all but the most determined theif from steeling them.

Will you be needing to open the doors eveytime you drive the Jeep? I only lock/unlock the driver's side when I feel it's appropriate. The other side stays locked until I need to open it. Not a big deal.

Anyway, to answer your question, NO there is no way to thread the hinge. It is too short and one bent piece so there is nothing to replace to make it long enough to thread.

Hope this helps

Thanks, what about if I drilled out the center and tapped it so it would accept a bolt? I guess another option would be to weld on a bolt to the end.

Sounds like you have only 2 doors. I have 4 and so if my family goes out somewhere then I have to go around and lock every door. yuck.

I had the concern that they could easily be stolen.
Went out and bought 4 black, bike-type, cables with locks.
Easy to wrap around lower bars and connected to back seat bracket
and front near side panel.
At least this is some security.
