Part of you is missing. I'd go back to 35's, but sometimes better MPG can make all the difference in the world...if you REALLY need it, of course.

Have you tried a flashpaq or something? To keep better MPG on 35s

Auto or stick? In '07, it was either 3.21 or 4.10....they didn't offer the 3.73 until '08. If you have tow package, will be 4.10.

Yeah, I wanted 35's too. I need the mileage, though. I live WAY out of town so my Jeep sees a lot of highway. I've put on 20k km since November and I'm sad to say most of them have been highway so far. And it was parked for a month! I couldn't deal with the mileage being so low and I'm not sure what gears I have either. I think they're 3.73 on an '09 X. I got the tow package but the salesman couldn't tell me much else. I'm running 32's right now but will bump up to 33's when I need new tires . I figure an auto with 3.73 should be able to handle that size. You're right, though. . The JK seems to be made for 35's!

If you drive a lot, maybe, if possible, is get a lease of an inexpensive compact, that has great mileage, and leave your Jeep (and its 35"/37"/40"s) for weekends and vacation - I bet the economics are favorable (not everyone can drive a inexpensive compact, I agree, but they evolved a lot). The environment and your Jeep will thank you!

If it's a very modified Jeep, it's even impossible for much highway use.
