Default 303 Aerospace Protectant - Awesome stuff!

303 Aerospace Protectant - use this before your top is soiled and you're good to go. If you're top is soiled you'll need the 303 Convertible Top Cleaner.

Unfortunately i didn't find this product until my top looked like it was 100 years old, but cleaned the 2years of red clay off as much as i could with the 303 cleaner and applied the protectant and it almost looks new.

the folks there were very helpful and gave me a ton of info which i'll spam here.

"Sailcloth" (what's on the JK) is a brand name that refers to the grain of the vinyl topping, not the type of material. The topping itself is vinyl. Here's the topping mfg's technical description of this type of vinyl topping, which is standardly used on SUV's:

Single Texture - Sailcloth

A two ply composite made of a PVC sailcloth grain outer layer and a polyester/cotton
lining fabric.

As for vinyl topping.....often a convertible top kit is not needed, just the protector. If your topping is soiled to the point where soap and water doesn't get it clean, then you'd need a specialized 303 cleaner. Otherwise you don't.

Once you start using 303 A. Protectant on a routine basis, it makes the treated surface EXTREMELY repellent to soiling and staining. Therefore a specialized clean is not needed between reapplications either.

If you need a specialized cleaner because of soiling, 303's Conv. Top cleaner is a good choice. You can order that separately, by the way, instead of the kit....and it's more economical to do so.

Here is text from a 303 pamphlet on proper care of standard top-coated vinyl (including VINYL topping) and also clear vinyl.

If you're technically oriented and REALLY want to know details about what clear vinyl is, how it's made, etc, here's a tech bulletin on that (a lot of 303's website visitors are enthusiasts who are interested in can't-find-it-anywhere-else information such as this).
