Default Detroit True-Trac ?

Need some opinions....

installed detroit truetracs both front and rear during a new gear install. the jeep has a 3.5" Taraflex lift with all four adjustable CA's, adjustable trac bar, and 35" tires.

after the lift/tire install ( 6 mo. ago ) the jeep had an excellent 4 wheel alignment. NO pull or drift issuses at all.

AFTER the gear/ Truetrac install, the jeep pulls hard to the right all the time. Took it in to have them look at the alignment.....its still dead on. Tech said he had no idea why it would be pulling right. Tried to call Eaton but No-one was home. The LS break-away is super tight....should it be?

Before you say-it.....tire circum is right on. tire psi is right on.

Anyone have a similar experience? Any ideas?
thanks guys

Ummm....I had thought about it being something on the hub-out. like you said, brakes, bearing, etc...

I guess i'll be pulling that side of the front end to see if i can find anything out of sorts.

A Truetrac shouldn't cause the rig to pull. You may have a sticky caliper or a bad unit bearing. A pinched brake line or warped rotor may also cause pulling.

Truetracs are a product that has nearly zero issues with warranty. I have (literally) sold thousands of these diffs and they are great for moderate off road use. When I have received calls about questions with anything, I always ask if the owner is using synthetic gear lube. In almost every case, synthetics were used. I'm sure many have used Truetracs with synthetics and not had issues, but, almost without exception, customers with concerns about the performance of their Truetracs were running synthetics.

Are YOU running a synthetic diff lube?

Not sure about the Synthetic lube. the shop said they added RP....which, if they did is synthetic right? I know Eaton says you don't need synthetic, but would it hurt anything? would keep the gear-set cooler, right?

crazy thing is.....they said they also added a LSD additive.

I'm getting ready to change everything out, pull the covers and check the patterns....so I'll put the right lube in.....what do you guys recommend?

Thanks Mike

It doesn't need a LSD additive. I'd had great luck with Lucas dino oil.

Yeah....I know ( about the LSD additive ), I'm not sure whether to believe them or not about them actually adding the additive, but i guess i have to assume that they DID. Thats why i'm just going to suck it up and change the lube out now instead of waiting for the end of the gear-set break-in period. After the comment about adding the LSD....I kinda what to check it out in there anyway....might find a shop rag.

So you are saying that I should stay away from Synthetics? how would synthetics effect the TrueTrac?

Yes, stay away from synthetics as they can cause the Truetrac to be noisy and less effective.

Bump.

Checked Knuckle out ( Brakes, bearing, wheel ) everthing looks good. Changed out all differential lube. looked in-side, pattern and TrueTrac look good.

found that the TrueTrac breakaway should be around 100 ft/lbs. which it seems to be. all in all everything seems to be good.....except the rig is still pulling.

could it be a bent "C"? is there a way to check?

An alignment check will show any castor/camber issue.
