Lift kit thoughts
Im a little confused by the whole lift world. Ive been looking at the RC 2.5 BB lift for my 08 4dr. My problem is i dont go offroading much and usually just highway driving and so wanted something that didnt cost much and effect the ride much. Also ive gotten mixed results from weather or not i need an adjustable track bar or not either. Can anyone help me out?
I was in the same boat. I'd love to have the Rock Krawler 2.5" or 3.5" lift kit, but my wallet says no and with a little one on the way, i had to budget where i could. I went with the RC Series II budget boost. You get a rear track bar relocation bracket, shock extensions, brake line extensions and spacers. It was pretty straight forward on the install. Pretty easy. The ride is just like stock obviously. For the little extra money i would get the series II kit. Its more complete. I was a little scared with the track bar relocation bracket but it is mounted on the top frame. Plus i don't do any major offroading so it should hold up ok. We will see i guess. So far i'm pretty pleased with it. There were a couple hang ups with the instructions. The instructions aren't very good at all so make sure you think it out well first. One design i did not like is the rear spacer is bolted in. You have to thread a bolt into a washer and nut on top of the rear spring perch. THis was pretty difficult for someone with fat hands. It got pretty tight. Then i made a dumb discovery on my part. I spent most of my time trying to thread a metric bolt into a standard nut. I wish RC would have standardized on metric or standard threads. Once i figured this out it went pretty smooth. THe front brake lines were another scary part. I had to bend them easily to allow them to connect right to the brake line brackets. I actually had to go further down the brake line where it was held with the plastic clips on the frame and relieve it to get enough slack to mount the brakelines. All in all i'm pleased so far but i've only had it on for a week so far. I'll try to snap some pics tommorrow and up load them. I did notice the front is still sagging from my winch and bumper but that was a no brainer because i still have the stock springs.
DId i miss anything your asking about or concerned about?
All in all, if your not doing much offroading a budget boost will work fine for you. RC uses steel spacers and Tereflex uses poly spacers. ALot of guys are running the tereflex but they are more expensive. Just remember you get what you pay for. I just didn't have the cash to fork out for Tereflex and got a good deal on the RC.

Thanks for your help.
My real concern was the trackbar, but it seems to come with an adaptor that takes care of that unless i miss understood. The Teraflex one does look like it has more too it but its also alot more, but like you said you get what you pay for

Anyway, some further explanation and you can get some better answers to form your own opinion.
It's a little difficult to give an answer when the reason for wanting a lift isn't mentioned. Is it to fit larger tires, more ground clearance or simply for looks. Much of what is stated would suggest skipping a lift and just running flat flares to fit bigger meats if tire fitment is the reasoning. Also, if it's just a lift and stock size tires will be run, your rig will look roller skaty with a lift and the stock tires.

I really like the look and style of a lifted JK and 33s so i wanted to put a basic lift on it to make it stand out and look a little better and give it more of an advantage when i do decide to go offroading. I didnt like most of the flat fenders or those type of fenders and not too fond of a body lift so thats why i was going with a BB to give it a little better stance and plus the money is low for me.

Will the trackbar brackets that seem to come with the more complete sets give it the extension to recenter the axles?
