Post Stock 2010 Sahara 18" Wheels... wanna put 35"'s on and lift

Anyone use or seen or heard of people keeping the stock Mopar wheels and just swapping out the tires? I would like to keep the stock wheels due to budget constrains and I also like the tire senor concept etc...

I was going to do my lift and tire swap at the same time. I was thinking 3-4" lift with 35"'s. any thoughts. I am more of a recreational off-roader. Most of my riding is trails and fire road. Not extreme.

With keeping a budget in mind do people have any recommendations? Kits and wheels? What products would you go with? Lift with spacers or shorts arm kit? What Tires work well with trails and road driving. My Jeep is my only vehicle so I need to to drive around town still.

THANK YOU!!

Your asking a lot in a single post.

Real quick, you are describing and AT tire but given your locale an MT might make you happier.

Lose the idea of retaining your wheels more and better choices with 17s. The sale of your 18s and the cost savings of going to a 17" tire will pay for a move to new wheels.

As for a lift, lots of options and you don't need anything more than a 3" lift to fit 35s. In fact you can fit 35s by trimming your fenders or buying a set of flat flares without any lift.

Anyway, that's a start and you'll need to do a little research so you can ask some more specific questions.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Sorry for all the questions. If I do swap out Rims then I will have to disconnect the tire senor... correct?

TPMS sensors are a joke. They are a pain to deal with in a vehicle where you are airing down for off road uses. They are also clearly show how bureaucracy can get something so wrong covering their own asses while also covering those of the tire industry. In all they are ineffective and with a fair amount of tires that would be employed on a JK not needing 26psi of pressure useless. I could go on, but in essence the laws that put TPMS sensors in your tires was an effort to sweep the Ford/Firestone issue under the rug while not making the appropriate parties responsible in the future.

No big deal getting new TPMS sensors, they run about $40 apiece, which is going to cover half the price of a tuner that will let you get rid of them, get better performance and calibrate your speedometer for your new tires.

I run 35's Duratracs on a 2.5 Teraflex BB kit (4.10 gears). One thing to remember...keeping the stock wheels will require spacers if you buying 35's. I really wanted to keep mine because i like the way they look but didn't want to bother with spacers so I decided to go with aftermarket wheels. The only thing you might have to do is trim the plastic air damper. At full lock, it rubs a little. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the direction I went.
