Default Rugged Ridge Xtreme Heavy Duty Tire Carrier Mount

Would it possible to just use the RR tire carrier with the stock rear bumper? that is remove the rear bumper, bolt on the tire carrier to the frame and then place the rear bumper back on top of the tire carrier, I know some possible rear bumper mods might have to be done for this to work.

or

Any other tire carriers that I can do this with. I'm need a tire carrier for my 35" spare but don't want to buy an entire new rear bumper as I actually like the look of the stock rear bumper. Thanks...

I believe the AEV tire carrier is engineered to work with the stock bumper. But it ain't cheap. Be nice to know if there are any other options, as well.

I think the Or-Fab carrier can work with the stock bumper as well.

Just checked out the Or-Fab tire carrier looks good but am worried about the install, it looks like you have to drills holes into the body of the Jeep and also i don't like the fact that the weight is still distributed on the body and not the frame, any others??

i cant seem to find any picks of the rear end underside of the jeep but

i dont think the frame rails reach far enough to install a hinge for the mount
i think thats why they are part of replacement bumpers cause the metal of the bumper acts as a mounting plate for the carrier

You are correct about having to drill a hole into the body for the landing block. You're not correct abount mounting the weight to the body. We actually have a bracket that mounts inside the tub on both sides. These tie into the same support which a sport cage would use. These brackets are very heavy duty.

This video explains the setup breifly.

Does the OR-FAB Tire/Can carrier have provisions for mounting a Hi-Lift jack similar to the tire only carrier?

Genright also has a tire carrier that requires no bumper. It looks sweet too, very prerunner inspired.

Default Or fab

I was running the Teraflex bumper and tire carrier, changed over to the OR FAB Tire/Jerry can carrier. Could not be happier! Have ran with it for about a year now, lots of offroad time on it and it is still as solid as the day I installed it. I have a 37" BFG KM2 on it, two 5 gallon Scepter (plastic military style) jerry cans, and a HiLift jack. Not a squeak or rattle to be heard. Easy to open and close with or without fuel cans full.

My next and only other choice would be Offroad Evolution's, very pricey and you need their rear armor. But VERY NICE piece of metal work.
