Default Flat fender flares vs. Pocket fender flares

Looking to try and do something with my fender flares. Have tossed the idea of getting them rhino lined but also might just get new flares. I have always liked the bushwacker pocket flares but it appears everyone is going with the flat fenders. What are the pros and cons of both? Should I just keep what I have and rhino line them? Any suggestions or info would be great.

Not really a pro/con scenario. The flats are for looks and dry. The pocket ones are for extreme mud/wet. It goes for your climate and tastes. Personally I put the pocket flares in the same category as mud flaps.

I run chopped flats and it gets pretty wet here. It was my understanding that flats give you alot of room to articulate... Dont know much about the design of the pockets. They could give you some more room to but IMO they look kinda weird. My vote is for flats

My jeep came with Pocket Flares from the dealer, never really liked them. 48 hrs after I drove off the dealer lot and did my first wheeling trip, I cracked the front passenger side flare so badly it had to be completely taken off. I was running a TeraFlex 3" LCG lift with BFG KM2s. Tires flexed into the flare and detroyed it. Since then, I have run cut down flat flares. Pocket Flares are definitley about the look and not really meant to be seriously offroaded. I wished I had bought my jeep with stock plastic flare, then I could have used the money spent on that ridiculous dealer flare upgrade on something usable like front and rear aftermarket drive shafts.

I got the pocket flares from bushwacker , 1st off they make the wrangler unique from every other wrangler by me ,with the design and bolt pattern. With larger tires they cover an additional 2 inches which keeps the tires from exeeding the stock flares .In some states tires can not pass the vehicle body. The flat flares are more off road use.also note that bushwacker on both flares includes the side marker lights. It depends on how much daily use and off road driving you do.

Except for offroad evolutions outlaw fenders, I think all the aftermarket flares look a little weird. Not so much on the 4 doors but on the 2 doors.

i loved the pocket flares until i put them on, very cheap plastic, broke them all, also they dwarf your tires. picked up a set of xenons flats and they work great, im sure the bushwacker flats work great also. if it werent for shitty pa fender laws id have evos or poison spyders steel, or even the new genright aluminum

I am leaning toward the flat flares. I don't off road much and basically anything I do at this point is for looks. I wish I had the time and money to travel and do some off roading. Has anyone seen the stock flares bedlined before. I have heard of it but never seen pics.
