Default TF 2.5 inch lift vs. TF 3 inch coil lift

I have a question which I haven't been able to find searching around. I'm looking to run 35s on my 6 speed 4-dr Rubicon and am looking at both the Teraflex 2.5 inch and 3 inch coil lifts. Other than getting a little but extra clearance with the 3-inch lift, are there any real impacts by going with the extra half inch of lift (such as needing adj. control arms, upgrading driveshafts, etc.).

I normally don't suggest running a 3" especially TF suspension on a two door because they actually give you more than the advertised height. But on a four door 4" in height looks right (thats what you can expect from a TF 3" on a four door)... Having said that, a four door's drive shafts are stronger and at a lesser angle at which a two door is set up at. So they are stronger and because you have a manual you don't have to worry about your front drive shaft as that is more of a common problem with automatics.

On any suspension lift that net's over 3"+ its recommended that you run control arms and adjustable trackbars to adjust for geometry changes that was altered during the course of the install.

A two door on 35's and 3" of lift looks like this:

you want to be taller!

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely leaning to the 3-inch for a little more clearance. Out of curiosity, at what height for a 4-door with a 6 speed do the driveshafts start becoming an issue?

first off, you need to know that the teraflex 3" lift will in reality give you closer to 4" of lift. being that you have a 6 speed and an unlimited, you will not need to get new drive shafts front or rear but you may find that a set of adjustable front lower control arms are a nice addition as they will allow you to add a bit more caster. also, if the kit you get doesn't already come with it, i would recommend getting adjustable front and rear track bars so that you can recenter your axles. aside from that, you should be good to go.

Thanks WOL.

Right now I'm leaning towards the 3-inch TF lift and will definitely be looking at getting adjustable track bars and adjustable front lower control arms. With the 3-inch TF lift would there be any additional benefit from going with a full set adjustable control arms all the way around as opposed to just the front LCAs

Sure. More adjust-ability means you can dial in your Jeeps suspension to compensate for geometry changes..
