Can i fit 35's without spacers, which ones, regear????
just wondering if i could fit 35s on my rubicon (2.5inch lift) without spacers. i have herd you can get narrower tires, would this work? also what are the best 35's to get - i live in northern California so mostly rocky trails and some snow when i go into the mountains.
one last things... i have read allot about re gearing and it has just confused me - i have a 6spd manual - i have herd people say it is bearable, i dont mind the lack of power but will it effect off road performance? if so is this sacrifice worth just going with a smaller tire or is the extra clearance worth it?
thanks in advance

that would all depend on what rims you have. Stock rims will rub without spacers. Aftermarket rims around 4.5" backspacing won't rub. Performance will decrease with 35s, so most people regear. There have been a TON of threads on regearing with 35s, use the search feature or google use google to search for a thread on JK-forum on regearing.

this site has seriously infinite information, you just need to go out and get it.
I live in a completely different climate so i cant elaborate on the best tires for you..

Agreed, you will not see any noticeable "off-road" difference without re-gearing. You will see a difference on the highway though, but with a manual tranny should not be a big deal.
As far as tires, I love BFG km2's. It's all personal preference but I think it's a good all around tire that looks awesome.

Without Gears:
Your fuel economy will drop 2 mpg or more. Acceleration on the street will suffer. you will also be putting undo strain on your drive train componets..
Offroad in low range and moderate wheeling and your fine with the stock gearing
To do it right get some gears and then get your wheel and tire package.
I have a 6 spd with 3.73's and 33's. Its ok. I would love to regear but dont have the money. If you are driving in mountains often I would regear I think that along with off-roading is where you will have the most problems.

35's require gears period..that is if you do any real wheeling and you want to use 6th gear on the highway.

i appreciate the advice and am not trying to be a smart ass but what constitutes "real wheelin" ?
FWIW, My mileage went down about 5% when I went to 34s from the stock tires. After I regeared, the mileage dropped another 10%. Sooooo, figure on losing 15% of your economy if you do both. My figures are from speedo corrected input. Some say their mpgs went up after regearing, but every time I've done it, the performance goes up, which it should, and the economy goes down, which should be expected with the engine turning a higher rpm to go the same speed. Take a trip in 5th gear and compare it to the same trip in 6th gear. I'll bet the one in 6th gear gets better mpg.
